4. Rebuilding New Orleans
Last I heard, my cousin J.T. was volunteering for AmeriCorps in New Orleans. Then, out of the blue, I received a Facebook message from him that said, “I am not a program participant anymore, but an extremely underpaid employee.” I plan to head up to N’awlins to find out about some of the work he and AmeriCorps have been doing to help out a city that has gone through so much.
